Frommer's Review
This is one of the great restaurants of Spain -- some consider it the greatest. If you don't mind the 30-minute drive or the 45-minute train ride from Barcelona, a distance of 52km (32 miles), you will be transported to a gourmet citadel, housed in a 3-century-old building in the center of Sant Celoni, a Catalan village of 1,700 people. This Michelin three-star restaurant (its highest rating) is run with exquisite care and dedication. The restaurant is refined and elegant yet retains a rustic aura. One typical example of their inspired dishes is hot and cold mackerel with cream of caviar and tender pigeon with duck tartare. Another heavenly concoction is spicy foie gras with Sauterne and a coulis (purée) of sweet red and green peppers. Two different preparations of crayfish, each one a delight, come both raw and cooked. Roast pigeon is prepared in ways that correspond to the seasons and the "mood of the chef." For dessert, there's nothing finer than their "Festival de chocolate."
