Frommer's Review
Foodball is the latest concept from the shoe company Camper, aiming to transport their wholesome culture to the food industry. It's a cafe and takeout joint located near the MACBA museum, and its clientele reflects the neighborhood's neo-hippie vibe. The foodballs in question are wholegrain rice balls stuffed with either organic mushrooms, chickpeas, tofu and alga, or chicken. You can either take them out in recycled lunchboxes or choose to park yourself on the grandstand-style seating. The interior, with its abundance of organic colors and signage reminiscent of African barbershop imagery, is by the quirky Catalan Martí Guixé, who is also responsible for many of Camper's shoe shops. Besides the foodballs, the only other things available are fresh and dried fruit, juices, and purified water. If all this sounds just a bit too contrived don't be put off; healthy fast food is scarcer than hen's teeth in Barcelona, and the foodballs are actually very, very tasty. It's a brilliant concept.
