Frommer's Review
The famed Roca brothers first launched their exquisite cuisine at the El Cellar de Can Roca, a Michelin-starred eatery near Girona. Moo, their second restaurant, is located in Barcelona's applauded Hotel Omm. Service by the mainly young staff is attentive and efficient, and all dishes, from the organic chicken with olives and mango or monkfish with wild mushrooms, are available in half-size portions, allowing you to create your own menú de degustación. You can try the set menu "Joan Roca" -- five delightful dishes with wine from Moo's talented sommelier, Jordi Paronella. You might start with, say, a molded crescent of foie embedded with figs and covered with a gelatin of Pedro Ximénez sweet wine, followed first by a lobster, rose, and licorice curry, and then by a filet of wild sea bass on a bed of snow peas and pine nuts. The baby goat roasted in honey and rosemary on a bed of goat's milk foam is hard to resist. Accompany these dishes with excellent Penedés white wines. For dessert you might choose Bvlgari, a blend of Bergamot cream, lemon sorbet, and pensamiento flowers or a mouthwatering blend of chocolate cake, ginger, and 70% chocolate ice. Accompanied by a glass of San Emilio muscatel will provide a fitting end to your gourmet experience at this Roca brothers' haven.
