Frommer's Review
For reasons unknown, this smart four-star hotel, a stone's throw from the Plaza Jaume I -- home to Barcelona's regional government and town hall -- rarely gets a mention in the guidebooks. Nevertheless, it must be one of the best located, higher-end hotels in town. All main Barri Gòtic attractions are a short stroll away, including some of the best locales for tapas (Taller de Tapas), contemporary Catalan fare (Café de l'Academia), and cocktails (Ginger). The staff is courteous and pleasant, while bedrooms are classically decorated and have en-suite bathrooms with tub/shower combos. The best rooms have whirlpool baths (big enough for sharing) and private terraces with views over the rooftops and the cathedral, perfect for a predinner drink. They offer a rather expensive buffet breakfast at 15€ ($19). However, there are numerous local cafes serving fresh coffee and pastries a stone's throw from the front door. All in all, this is a good choice if you want to be at the center of the action.
