Frommer's Review
Located just across the street from one of Barcelona's oldest and most imposing churches, Santa María del Mar, this modest hotel combines desirable location (El Born) with highly affordable rates. Some of the rooms have been redecorated in the not-too-distant past, and if this matters to you it's worth asking for a newer one. Otherwise, though spotlessly clean, the Hostal Orleans is filled with objects and color schemes that take you back to the 1970s. Bedrooms are for the most part small, but the beds are comfortable and all rooms have private bathrooms (also small) with just enough space for a half-size bath and shower. The best rooms have balconies overlooking the street, which is great for watching the world go by, though not so good for a peaceful night's sleep. The communal sitting room is a nice touch, well stocked with English-language magazines, and a good place to meet other guests. Other pluses are the friendly service and a genuinely Catalan vibe.
