Frommer's Review
Of all the aparthotels in Barcelona, the Suiza is far and away the most glamorous -- a real home-away-from-home combined with the comforts of a luxury hotel. The wood-floored apartments all have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a plush, cozy living room, and a kitchen. Continental breakfast is included in the price. It's worth knowing that La Cupula (the in-house restaurant) is overseen by Carles Gaig, a renowned Catalan chef. What makes Siete Suiza truly special is its unexpected history. A Catalan doctor, gynecologist Melchor Colet Torrabadella, originally owned the house. He was also a writer, poet, and philanthropist, and was hugely interested in the arts, as well as fine vintage cars (a collection of seven beautiful 1920s automobiles, from which the hotel gets its name, decorate the lobby). When his wife died of cancer, Colet set up a foundation in her memory, Fundación Dr. Melchor Colet, and part of the hotel's profits go to this cause.
