The distinctive L'Hostal, Paseo 8A (tel. 97-225-80-00), has attracted some of the most glamorous names in the art and music worlds. Some music critics have called it the second-best jazz club in Europe, and it certainly rates as the best club along the coast. It's a Dixieland bar par excellence, run by the most sophisticated entrepreneurial team in town. Habitués remember when Salvador Dalí escorted Mick Jagger here, much to the delight of Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez. In fact, the bar's logo was designed by Dalí himself. Heightening the ambience are the dripping candles, the high ceilings, and the heavy Spanish furniture. The best music is usually performed late at night. The club is open daily from 11am to 5am. Entrance is free.
