Frommer's Review
Built in 1976, this hotel contains rather small bedrooms, but the maids keep the place spick-and-span. Superior features include wall-to-wall carpeting and, in winter, individual heat controls that work. All units have well-kept bathrooms with tub/shower combos. Near the hotel is a parking garage for 600 cars. There isn't a major restaurant, but the América does offer a tearoom and a cafeteria that serves regional and international cuisine. The hotel is set on the northern side of the Plaza del Duque. One of Spain's major department stores, El Corte Inglés, opens onto the same square.
Facilities:
Cafeteria; lounge; room service; laundry service; dry cleaning

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
