Built in 1976 and partially renovated in 1994, this hotel contains rather small bedrooms but the maids keep the place spic-and-span. Superior features include wall-to-wall carpeting and, in winter, individual heat controls that work. All units have well-kept bathrooms with tub/shower combos. Near the hotel is a parking garage for 600 cars. There isn't a major restaurant, but the América does offer a tearoom and a cafeteria that serves regional and international cuisine. The hotel is set on the northern side of the Plaza del Duque. One of Spain's major department stores, El Corte Inglés, opens onto the same square.
