Frommer's Review
The Woodstock Inn has a Jekyll-and-Hyde thing going on. In front, it's a white Victorian on the main commercial strip -- one of the few older inns in a forest of condos and modern resorts. Out back, it's a modern brewpub (in an old train station!), serving up hearty fare and ales to appreciative locals. The guest rooms are actually spread out among the main inn and four detached houses nearby; all units are individually decorated in a country Victorian style and furnished with both reproductions and antiques. Some rooms are pretty simple (two in the Deachman House even share a third-floor bathroom, and consequently cost less), but others -- such as all nine in the Cascade Lodge (where all the beds are constructed from knotty logs and tree trunks) and all three in the low-slung Sawyer House -- have some form of Jacuzzi. A few rooms have small refrigerators, too. This place has expanded and upgraded in recent years, a welcome change in a town better known for budget motels and snowmobile conventions than luxury digs.
