While the location is a bit out of the way—15 minutes east of U.S. 101 and just off Shea Boulevard near the town of Fountain Hills—a hillside setting, valley views, spacious accommodations, and adjacent golf course make this secluded, residential-style hotel a good choice. Rooms, of which there are several styles and sizes, have simple southwestern-inspired furniture; all have gas fireplaces and large bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs, and several have balconies and patios. The pool overlooks a small lake on the golf course. There’s a desert preserve with hiking trails nearby, but it’s at least a 15-minute drive to good restaurants. The restaurant serves dinner, but for breakfast and lunch you’ll have to make do with the golf club restaurant.
