Down a narrow passageway off the west side of the Peristil, immediately opposite the cathedral, this tiny classical temple, with its richly decorated portal and vaulted ceiling, was built in Roman times but was converted into a baptistery during the Middle Ages. The 11th-century baptismal font is decorated with stone carvings that portray a Croatian ruler (possibly the Croatian king Zvonimir) on his throne.
