Frommers.com Airfare Deals and News for the Week of November 30, 2007

Virgin America's two-for-one deal, Southwest's nation-wide discounts, AA's savings to Shanghai, and more news and bargains from the friendly skies.

Two-for-One with Virgin American

Here's something you won't find listed on the big online travel sites reliant on automated airfare data. Virgin America (tel. 877/359-8474; www.virginamerica.com) is offering two seats for the price of one for travel November 26 to March 19, with the obvious sold out dates being Christmas and around Valentine's Day. Just enter the promo code DIGGNATION when booking at virginamerica.com.

Offer ends December 7 at midnight, so hop to it.

Nationwide Southwest Sale

Southwest (tel. 800/435-9792; www.southwest.com) ends one sale, and the next day begins another. Seldom have we seen so many serial sales from these guys. This one is a nationwide sale, with one-way fares from $49 to $99 for travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only, between December 11 and March 17. Sample fares include:

Interested? All tickets must be booked by December 17 at midnight.

25% off AA Flights to Shanghai

Don't be so quick to put away the noise makers this year. Chinese New Year is in February, and to celebrate American Airlines (tel. 800/433-7300; www.aa.com) is offering 25% off travel from the US to Shanghai. This deal is good for travel between February 1 and February 14, and must be booked by December 4.

Again, this is another example of an airline reserving their better fares for their own website rather than list it on one of the big online travel players. We did some sleuthing and found Chicago to Shanghai for $727 round-trip, taxes incl., on American. The other guys list the exact same trip, on American, for $879! We don't know about you, but we'd rather put that extra $150 towards our trip to Shanghai.

Anyhoo, to take advantage of this offer, just enter promo code DFCNY.

Oasis Hong Kong Winter Sale

Oasis Hong Kong (tel. 888/983-0808; www.oasishongkong.com) is having a Winter Sale, with economy fares as low as $229 one-way, and business class starting at $729 one-way. Book by December 15 for travel between January 6 and March 12, 2008.

WestJet 30% off Sale

WestJet's (tel. 800/538-5696; www.westjet.com) latest (http://c1dsp.westjet.com/guest/deals/index.jsp) seat sale is good for 30% off travel within Canada, until February 13, 2008. Just book online by December 4. Sample fares include:

Allegiant Air to Add Orlando Service

Good news for you snowbirds. On February 1, Allegiant (tel. 888/594-6937; www.allegiantair.com) will begin new service from Plattsburgh International Airport to Orlando Sanford International Airport. This service will be offered twice a week at an introductory fare of $89 each way, good for travel until May 15, 2008. All purchases must be made by December 15.

Also of note: On February 2, Allegiant will increase Plattsburgh to Ft. Lauderdale service from twice weekly to four times weekly.

As always, Allegiant's fares can all be used one way and all service is nonstop. You can only access Allegiant's flight and booking details/restrictions by going to their site, www.allegiantair.com. You will not find Allegiant represented on any of the travel search engines.

20% off flights to Europe on AA

American Airlines (tel. 800/433-7300; www.aa.com) is offering another exclusive deal to their DealFinder users that you won't find on any of the big fare search sites. Here's the deal:

Book any trip from the continental US to Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt or Zurich between January 7, 2008 and April 13, 2008 and save 20%. You must book by December 4th via the AA.com website using the promo code DFBCDL08.
