Mangroovy Beach has acquired an international reputation for its facilities, beach, and wind, perfect for wind- and kitesurfing. The sand shelf extends several hundred meters offshore, making this an excellent place to learn because you can fall off the board and still stand on the bottom. On the other hand, a little bit out to sea there is a strong, consistent wind and good-size waves to keep experts amused.

The dive centers and boats in Gouna all run trips to the same spectacular reefs and wrecks as the centers in Hurghada do -- except at the end of the day, instead of bracing for Hurghada, you're relaxing into Gouna. See the "Active Vacation Planner" for more details.

Go-karting is also a lot of fun, and though Gouna doesn't have the biggest track in Egypt, or the fastest cars, the little 5-horsepower carts are in good shape and will give everyone in the family a much needed adrenalin rush after a day of relaxing by the pool and eating too much. Facilities include lap timers so that everyone gets printouts of their times at the end of the race. It's open daily from 10am to 10pm. Admission is LE50 ($9.10/£4.65) for 10 minutes or LE70 ($13/£6.50) for 15 minutes.
