Getting There

By Air -- The regional Ithaca/Tompkins County Airport (ITH), 72 Brown Rd., Ithaca (tel. 607/257-0456; www.ithaca-airport.com or www.flyithaca.com), is serviced by US Airways and Northwest Airlines. It's less than 10 miles north of town on Route 13.

By Car -- Ithaca is about a 4-hour drive from New York City. The nearest major highways are I-81, which travels north to Syracuse, and Route 17, which heads west to Corning. Routes 13 and 96B head directly into Ithaca.

By Bus -- Greyhound stops in Ithaca at the Brenda Wallace Bus Terminal, 710 W. State St. (tel. 800/231-2222 or 607/272-7930); Shortline Bus (tel. 800/631-8405 or 607/277-8800; www.shortlinebus.com) travels to Ithaca, also stopping at 710 W. State St., as well as Elmira, from New York City.

The Ithaca/Tompkins County Convention & Visitors Bureau is located at 904 E. Shore Dr., Ithaca (tel. 800/284-8422 or 607/272-1313; www.visitithaca.com). A new downtown Visitors Center and Ticket Center, opened in June 2009, is located at 171 The Commons (tel. 607/273-7482).
